2005 Conference Program

The 19th annual Racial Reconciliation Community Outreach Conference will be held June 8-11, 2005

WEDNESDAY June 8:

CONFERENCE OPENING NIGHT (Saguaro Christian Church)

6:30 to 10 PM: Panel Discussion with Audience Participation: "Living With Dignity"

Panel will consist of

  • Sarah Clements, founder and former Executive Director of the Tucson Arts District
  • Rick Ufford-Chase, National Moderator of the Presbyterian Church USA and the International Director of Borderlinks
  • President Clarence Boykins, Tucson Black Chamber of Commerce President/NAACP State
  • Brian Flagg, director of the Casa Maria soup kitchen
  • Dr. Elizabeth McNeil, chief medical officer of the Pima County Health Department
  • Dr. Luther Felder, Assistant General Secretary for the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, Division of Higher Education Campus Section for the United Methodist Church
  • Michael McDonald, Executive Director of Tucson Habitat for Humanity

  • THURSDAY June 9:

    7:30 to 10 PM: YOUTH NIGHT (Saguaro Christian Church)

    - X-plosion Music and Dance Group
    - Activities led by Matthew and Rachel Washington
    - Christian Bands from throughout the USA

    Friday June 10:

    7:30 to 10 PM: FINE ARTS FESTIVAL (Saguaro Christian Church)

    Numerous Tucson and out-of-town arts organizations will perform and give Praise in every conceivable style and fashion!!

    Saturday June 11:

    MORNING SEMINARS (Saguaro Christian Church)

    9 to 11 AM:-

    Adults: Ministering to the Hispanic Community: Alameida Family, Corazon Ministries
    -Teens: Activities led by Rachel Washington
    - Younger Children: Puppet Show and X-plosion performance

    11:30 to 1 PM: -

    -Adults: Dr. Luther Felder
    - Teens: Activities led by Art/Gail Moore
    - Younger Children: Playtime

    CLOSING BANQUET: 6 to 9 PM (Radisson Hotel)
    Keynote Speaker:Dr. John Perkins a well known civil rights and community development organizer.
